King of Shaves Azor Archives

June 18, 2008

"iPod meets razor!". New King of Shaves Azor is here. It's designed to change the face of shaving for better, for ever.

Azor Shwoosh.jpgLaunched last night to rapturous journalistic critical acclaim, and described by one renowned style journalist as "iPod meets Razor", the brand new King of Shaves Azor debuts next week online at KMIshop.com and at Sainsbury's stores nationwide, priced at just £4.99 for an Azor & 3 Endurium multi-bladed cartridges. Replacement cartridges cost just £4.99 for 4 & £9.49 for 8. Plus, they last a looonnnnggggg time!

Full detail, backstory, design innovations and more will be posted at shave.com/azor 'soon'.

So, overcharged shavers of the UK, who've been paying up to £2.50 per Fusion cartridge, it's time to 'take the Red Pill' and "choose Different, shave Better and save Cash". Forget Fusion, bin Bic, move on from Mach3 and quit Quattro and shave closer, longer, for less, and enjoy the King of Shaves without the Ransom. When teamed with our AlphaGel, our Azor was preferred by 7 out of 10 men* (independent test carried out by professional barbers supplied by ShaveSchool.com).

Remember, the bigger they are...

King of Shaves Azor - already the cat's Whiskas...

azorcatswhiskas.jpgNew Azor by King of Shaves. "7 out of 10 men said their whiskers preferred it"

Courtesy Sean Higgs, who picked up on my blog posting below, emailed me and said it reminded him of the iconic 1970's Whiskas TV ad.

Good one Sean, you'll be one of the first to shave with the Azor - I'll be popping you one in the post! But use it on your whiskers, not the cat's (if you have one!)

Having just read an article in Marketing Week about the Azor I felt compelled to write. Which is strange for me as I rearly (sic) engage so whole heartedly with brands. Personally I have used a Mach 3 for years and while it is good I begrudgingly pay for refills as I feel they have got very greedy charging substaintially extra for what offers no real value.

I've used the KOS software for years and it's fantastic. I am really pleased you are challanging the 'big boys' . i wish you every success - I will certainly be switching.

Also The womans range was a great move too. My wife had been stealing my shave gel for years and I always thought it was a missed opportunity .
--------------------------
Many thanks!!! In short, to, to get the King of Shaves without the Ransom, choose our new hybrid synergy system razor, the Azor. Prepare to shave closer, longer, for less!

The Azor's Objective? To deliver the King of Shaves (without the Ransom). Available from Sainsbury's from 23rd June.

Azor Shwoosh.jpgSince 1993, our AlphaOil shaving oils and AlphaGel shaving gels have delivered tens of millions of shaves, often lasting twice or three times as long as the average 'can'ventional can of shaving gel.

In short, and from 21st June 2008, our Azor will deliver you the King of Shaves without being held to ransom by the (90%+ monopolistic) competitor we term 'Wilkinette'.

So, why choose the Azor? Well, let me summarise:

You will be using the latest in shaving hardware, designed, engineered and developed in Britain to deliver you the closest, most comfortable shave you've ever experienced.
And:
You won't be paying for unnecessary over-bladed vibrational technology.
You won't be paying for bloated, overweight handles.
You won't be paying for completely unnecessary secondary packaging.
You won't be paying the agents fees for (already) well paid World Champions.

And if, like Neo, you 'choose the Red Pill' and move from the clutches of 'The Matrix' to enjoy the freedom, performance and shaving simplicity of the Azor, I guarantee:

You will be paying less for our Azor that's been described as "iPhone meets razor"
You will be paying less to get more shaves per replacement cartridge.
You will be paying less (up to half the price) of comparative system razors
You will be paying less for less packaging, and in the process putting less into Landfill
You will be able to enjoy the King of Shaves without the ransom.

In short, we're going to prove that "Less is Mor" with our new King of Shaves Azor. Why not read our 'Fair Shave Manifesto' here to see why choosing the King won't cost you the earth.

Enjoy

City AM: King of Shaves Azor to enter UK 'shaving hardware' market.

City AM - 20.0608.jpgPublished today:

Shock! Awe! Gillette Slash Prices of Fusion Razors. The King of Shaves Azor must be coming...

As expected, Gillette has slashed the price of their Fusion Manual and Fusion Power handles today in anticipation of the Azor launch next week. Prices at Boots.com have Fusion Manual handles at £3.49 (from £7.49) and Fusion Power handles a whopping 50% off at £4.99 (from £9.99).

Surely a bargain? But not if you look closer - remember my blog posting, no such thing as a free lunch. There are no price reductions on replacement blades (which incidentally, will be costing you even more to buy shortly, watch this space).

I'm already being contacted by people with half a dozen (unwanted) Fusion handles wanting to know if we're going to run a Fusion amnesty (they send in unwanted handle, we send out brand new Azor). I'm thinking about it...

Additionally (and according to IRI, who monitor retailer sales data) sales of Fusion handles actually decreased from 1.1m to 930K (Fusion Manual) and 830K to 408K (Fusion Power) in the 12 months to week ending 19th April 2008.

The Azor's coming. Prepare to shave closer, for longer, for less!

So, who's got the edge...?

Contenders.jpgThere's an article coming out in this weekend's 'Live' magazine in the multi-million selling 'Mail on Sunday' about razors.

Despite cutting it "a bit too close", at the start, can the new King of Shaves Azor win over its tester, or will it be pummeled into submission by its ugly, vibrating, multi-billion pound resourced competitors...

...watch this space to see if the Apple style Azor should get YOUR vote!

King of Shaves Azor Has The Edge! iStyle meetes Shaving, without the Ransom

Azor Live Edge.jpgIn an editorial review of the new King of Shaves Azor versus the industry's three other men's system razors, the Azor scored five out of five, closely followed by Gillette's Mach3 Power (4/5), Gillette's Fusion Power (3/5) and lastly, the Wilkinson Sword Quattro (2/5).

The Azor's a Contender! Full article pages 36-37 in 'Live' Magazine, The Mail on Sunday, published June 22nd 2008.

New King of Shaves Azor. Voted (by Live) the King of Blades. Shave closer, longer, for less, without a King's Ransom! Available at Sainsbury's from June 23rd and online at KMIshop.com

Azor Shortlisted yesterday, blogged favourably today. It's time to "Shave & Prosper"

AzoriPhoneEdge.jpgFirstly, many thanks to Shortlist, who not only devoted an entire page to our new King of Shaves Azor, but were absolutely 'bang on' with the descriptions and comparisons. We really, really appreciated the review, and also seeing one of our shaving oils being highly rated amongst others was very rewarding. You can see their review on p22 online, or in the mag. We're looking forward to shaving the iGeneration!

I'm pleased to see that people are now starting to blog about the Azor, having either bought online from kmishop.com, or from Sainsbury's. They are still being merchandised in many stores, but let me tell you, the sales this week are in the thousands already...

Another amAzoring review! Shave & Prosper with King of Shaves Azor!

Gillette Fusion better than Mach3 (but do you really need to be told?) Plus, our King of Shaves Azor beat it!

gillette fusion sunday times sport.jpgSo, why is it actually better? And why do Gillette suddenly feel the need to advertise the fact it is better than 10 year old Mach3 razors?

i don't know if it's just me, but in the last couple of weeks I've seen a massive surge in advertisements for the Gillette Fusion Power razor. We're being told it's better than Mach3, launched over 10 years ago, and have its many 'features and benefits' pointed out in ads that exhort to you that it's 'Gillette's Best Shave Ever'.

Contenders.jpgWhich, of course, I hope it is, given the 'hundreds of millions of pounds' being spent on telling you this fact.

The facts however, suggest a different story. Whilst sales of replacement blades are up for the Fusion, sales of actual handles are down year on year (according to IRI Infoscan anyway). And I'm emailed regularly with people who have several, sometimes half a dozen handles, just to take advantage of the current 'half price offer' (no free lunch remember, replacement blades aren't half price). You can only put so much salt into water, before you can't drink it, and I reckon the Fusion's cup has already runneth over...

AzoriPhoneEdge.jpgWith our new Azor you can "Shave & Prosper'. Not only is it half the price of Gillette's Fusion Power at £4.99, but each cartridge is only £1.25 apiece (not £2-2.50) and when you buy either the handle & 3 blades, or a 4 or 8 replacement blade pack, you'll find a further £1 off!

So, like I say in my Fair Shave Manifesto, "the more we sell, the more cost effective we hope to make your purchase". As well as being tough on stubble and the causes of stubble, we're intent on lowering Stealth shaving taxes...

And our first week sales (from just a handful of Sainsbury's stores) are in the thousands already, let alone sales from our online store.

So, why not escape The Matrix and take the Red Pill, choose different, shave better and save cash in the bargain. Those pounds saved over the year ahead will add up - and help you pay for daily essentials.

You know it makes sense! Less for them, Mor for you! You can buy the Azor ('Warp' style) from Sainsbury's now, or for the next few weeks, get the white ('Pola') style from KMI's online store here

New King of Shaves Azor. The King of Shaves, without the ransom.

iStyle meets Shaving. King of Shaves Azor in ARENA magazine. Cool or what - Shave & Prosper in style!

arena.jpgI'm so pleased with how magazine editors have picked up on the Azor's qualities of minimal design, 'reduce to the max' - 'less is mor'. I don't think we've ever had a King of Shaves product in ARENA magazine before, and when we do, we get nearly a double page spread.

The Azor compares well with its primary competitors, Fusion (which probably somewhat predictably gets 4/5 in the 'closeness' test), and our Azor (3/5) along with Quattro (3/5).

It is the way the Azor is written about though that delights me:

"Design equivalent: the Swatch"
"Minimal packaging, all 100% recyclable"
"....the pared down Azor is the antithesis of its over-designed rivals"

Sales are already in the thousands, so many thanks to Ahmed, I know you thought the Azor could have shaved you closer, but keep using it, and I'm sure you'll get the King of Shaves...!

The 'Pola' version of the Azor is exclusively available at KMIshop.com until 21st July, full details on the Azor along with the 'backstory' of its development can shortly be found at www.shave.com/Azor

King of Shaves Azor - email to King of Shaves from Mike Salt.

It's always a pleasure to receive emails from people who enjoy using our products, and wish to feedback their experiences. More often than not, these are wildly positive, but not always... But, I'm delighted to say, this one concerning the new Azor is.

Thanks Mike for letting me publish it - read on below:

Will,

I have used your shaving software and skincare products for several years now since a recommendation from a friend. They are the only products that succeed in keeping my skin in tip-top condition, and for that I thank you. When I heard about your Azor razor through Facebook, I knew it would be a quality product and bought it as soon as possible.

Up until this point, I have been using a Gillette Mach 3 Turbo razor. I have used a Wilkinson Sword Quattro, but only once. It clogged so quickly that it was completely unusable.

Last night, I had the pleasure of using your Azor, and it really was a pleasure. The 'tuning fork' design afforded a degree of control and pressure feedback matched by no other. The flimsy sprung hinge on the Mach 3 offered none of this feedback, often flicking out at an inappropriate moment and causing a cut. I appreciate the reliability of simpler, minimalist designs, hence the fact that my favourite car is the Ariel Atom.

I also see that you are a fan of James Dyson. I am sure that he will be proud of your Great British design. Have you sent him a freesample to review yet?

Once again, thanks. Keep up with the good work.

Mike

King of Shaves Azor, Director Magazine, Esquire & Real Business. All in one day! AmAzoringly Awesome!

Director0708FrontCover.gifWhat a day! As well as a stunning review of our new King of Shaves Azor in this month''s (August) issue of Esquire magazine ("A cut above the rest" no less), the July issue of Director magazine was also published, where the story behind the Azor launch has made it my first ever cover page!

The article is well worth a read if you'd like to know a little more about the 'why' behind our Azor launch - I don't give these sort of interviews often, so hopefully you'll enjoy it!esquire.jpg

There's also an interview with me on business matters in general on the Real Business website, click here to see it.

An amAzoringly Awesome day!

King of Shaves Azor in-store at my local Sainsbury's. It's out there...

Azor on sale.jpgIf you manufacture product, it's always a huge thrill to see it actually in-store. At that point, it's ceased to be completely under 'our' control, as it's now up to the consumer if they want to buy it, try it, and more importantly, buy it again.

I dropped into our local Sainsbury's this morning in the hope the Azor would be up, having visited yesterday when it was still in the back store room. Even then, a chap came along and asked a store assistant "if they had one of those new King of Shaves razors?".

So, here it is - jostling for position with Fusion (with our slim width, two hanging up where one 'Fat Fusion' normally is). And if you look at the price tags of our 8 pack replacement blades versus Gillette's, you'll see why we believe you don't need to charge a King's Ransom to enjoy the King of Shaves. Even whilst I was standing there, a chap picked up one of our AlphaGels, and when I explained we'd launched our new Azor, he said he must give it a try. Result! It took me 9 years to see one of our shaving oils bought at fixture, and within a week of launching our latest product, I saw two bought at once.

So, even in a credit crunch, you can "shave & prosper..."

King of Shaves Azor Feedback, now on sale at Boots

Azor on sale.jpgReviews from the Great British Shaving Public have been flowing into Nicky Springle, head of our customer care at King of Shaves regarding the Azor - here are (just a few!) of them!
--------------
'I have just purchased (online) an Azor Razor and Alphaglide Shaving Gel. I have used your products for the first time. All I can say is: I just had the best shave of my life.
Thank you'
---------------
'I'm delighted to hear you are entering the razor market in the UK. The big two have had it too easy and been ripping the customer off for years'
---------------
'I received my new Azor today and couldn't wait to give it a try, as someone who has tried all the other brands and found them lacking I pulled it out of the packaging with some reservations. Other brands either became blunt after 2 shaves or would not shave me as closely as claimed (I obviously don't have the chiseled features of the models in the ads) so for the last 17 years have suffered with a homer Simpson shadow J.
Ok so I can't comment on the blade life but I can say without hesitation that this is the first Razor that has given me a shave that is close and has finally got rid of the shadow. I'm not someone that normally writes reviews but felt compelled by such a great product, it looks good too. Thanks KoS, you have hit a hole in one'
--------------
'Got the product today. All I can say is "WOW". Great design and very easy to use. In my humble opinion, it's better than the leading Gillette Brand.'
--------------
'I used the new razor today and have to e-mail you on the closest shave I have had in years. My Gillette Fusion has gone in the bin as the King of Shaves is far superior. I have a deep cleft in my chin and have always had a problem but your razor had no such problem and performed effortlessly. The price is just right and I have no doubt that it will soon outperform the rest.'
---------------
'I have used your shaving software and skincare products for several years now since a recommendation from a friend. The flimsy sprung hinge on the Mach 3 offered none of this feedback, often flicking out at an inappropriate moment and causing a cut. I appreciate the reliability of simpler, minimalist designs, hence the fact that my favourite car is the Ariel Atom.'
--------------
'Two days ago I ordered your new Azor from the KMI website and would like to share a major complaint with you: this product (which arrived less than 24 hours later) is simply too good! How dare you produce a product that puts all others so well and truly to shame? Your new razor has made it more or less impossible for other brands to compete, which wasn't very nice of you really. Seriously though, I just had to let you know how impressed I am with it and say thanks for making a razor that's a fair price and doesn't hurt my skin (I'm 18 years old so my skin damages easily). I wish you every success with this endeavour and shall most definitely be telling my friends to give the Azor a go. I would however like to know what shaving software works best with it? I currently use Gillette foam, but it's not especially kind or smooth on the skin - can you help?'
------------
Fantastic feedback! And with the Azor now available at Boots stores (it goes on sale 'officially' on 21st July) you can now buy the Azor easier. Have a great weekend!

King of Shaves Azor. Charting The Rize Of The Asymmetrical Competitor.

100,000,000. 100,000. 10,000. 10. 1.

whypaymor.jpgSeemingly meaningless numbers, but they mean a lot to me. In today's world of hypertext mark-up language (HTML) and hyper-speed spread of information, there is an unprecedented opportunity for asymmetrical brands like King of Shaves to truly leverage their competitor advantage. Where we're concerned, "it's about YOU, not us". Where our competitors are concerned, "it's about THEM, not you".

By the end of the year, with the exception of the final "1" digit, I fully intend to have "leveraged our cutting edge" on an increasingly global basis, to ensure that every man or woman who shaves in the UK, can shave, without being overcharged and with complete satisfaction, or "your money back".

Be sure to listen to Capital FM w/c 21st July. If you live in London, maybe consider paying a visit to a store I'll be listing on the King of Shaves Facebook products page. Maybe visiting us at a secret location on Friday 25th July to 'baldly go...' And there's a lot more coming. If you find this a bit cryptic, well - that's sorta deliberate, because it's meant to be.

tkidlltk.jpgBut if you watched Wimbledon yesterday, the asymmetrical competitor (one arm is much more developed than the other) beat the seasoned all rounder. The King is dead, long live the King (but the King was vanquished valiantly). And if you see the simple photo of our new King of Shaves Azor next to Gillette's 3 year old Fusion, you'll see why we're promising "a better, fairer future for shavers".

Even 8,000lb gorillas can be moved, if the leverage exerted on them is unprecedented And with an (estimated) £1.9m spent by our primary competitor in the last month during our Azor launch, well - you can spend at the problem, but will that make it go away? Hillary spent and spent and spent....

I leave you to draw your own conclusions. King of Shaves Azor, customer feedback. In one word: Brilliant!

AzoriPhoneEdge.jpgFantastic reviews for the Azor continue to flood into Nicky's inbox at King of Shaves. Here are just a few.

• 'Hi, I thought I would drop you email on my thoughts about the new Azor. Just purchased this morning and used it for the first time. What a brilliant rAzor. Cleanest, closest shave of my life. Will defiantly be using more King of Shave products in the future.'

• 'I feel compelled to write back to thank you for your so very prompt reply to my query and also to tell you that I have managed to find some Azor razors in Sainsbury's and they do in fact live up to the good reports I have read.'

• 'Success! I bought an Azor at Sainsbury's store at Castle Marina Nottingham on July 4. I thought it would be useful for you to know that it was the last one in stock. I have now used it 3 times and am pleased to report that you have developed an outstanding product. May I wish you and your colleagues every success.'

• 'I have tried the Azor again, with a fresh blade and a different shaving gel (KOS Kinexium (the orange one)) and have to say the results were quite amazing, I feel a bit foolish after my original e-mail to you in such a negative tone, is it possible the first blade was no good? A good, very close shave which has passed my wife's kiss test!'

• 'I would like to give some feedback on the use of the new Razor. Having used king of shave products in the past I thought I would give the new razor a go, I was more than pleasantly surprised with the ergonomic feel to the form, also how well it cuts through the stubble. I have been using the initial blade daily for over 1 week with no cuts to face,(goodbye Gillette power super dooper), my only criticism is that it could do with a extra blade for under the nose area. Again thank you and if you would like to send me any samples then I won't complain.'

• 'I recently bought an Azor having seen the article in Shortlist magazine.
To be honest I've never used any King of Shaves products before. I had also bought a cheap Boots own make razor a few weeks previously having got completely fed up of the rising cost of a Gillette razor. As the Azor appeared at a time when I was getting frustrated with the poor shave from the boots razor I've been delighted with the results. I'll definitely be using the £1 voucher to stock up on cartridges. I felt I had to get in touch and let you know how pleased I am with the Azor. Whilst I know about introductory pricing, I hope that positioning the Azor as a cheaper alternative to top of the range Gillette and Wilkinson sword razors will be a permanent strategy. Particularly given the rising cost of living as a whole.'

• 'Just wanted to say 'good for you' with the launch of the new Azor. Good to see someone who embraces the less is more (mor) approach and understands what the consumer really wants.'
-----------------
AzorStorage.jpgSo, that's good news! Of course, there are some people who haven't got on with the Azor quite as well as the guys above, however these are in the tiny minority compared to overall feedback. It's important to note that you can easily shave under your nose by holdint the tip of your nose back & up with your index finger, and shave vertically down - the TST hinge will bend back and its pressure will allow you to get those pesky hairs immediately under your nostrils

In addition, regarding storage - some of you have pointed out that we don't supply a 'storage unit'. This was a deliberate choice to avoid extra packaging, as in our research most of these were simply binned. You can store the Azor particularly elegantly by sliding it back into the cartridge tray - see the photo above!

Happy shaving!

What next from 'Wilkinette'? 100% off handles? Duopoly protection at any cost?

ws50pcoff.jpgI snapped these two pictures whilst in Marlow today. One's taken at Superdrug, where Wilkinson Sword (the 'Wilkin' in Wilkinette) are offering 50% off handles (that's original) and the other is from Boots, where Gillette are giving away a Fusion HydraGel (if you buy four super expensive Fusion replacement blades).

Well, I guess you've got to do something to defend your territory when a market 'disruptive' competitor like King of Shaves turns up outside your drawbridge, and starts bashing it in. But 50% off or a free shaving gel is more than unoriginal, it's just plain silly. And I'm repeatedly emailed by people wanting to trade in their Gillette Fusion/Quattro handles (that they've bought half price for the blades) for an Azor (but as I don't have any as they're all being sold, that's a little challenging at the moment...)

gillettefreegel.jpgOr, and perhaps more worringly for the Big Dog and the slightly Littler Dog, given UK market data is indicating that sales of both Wilkinson Sword handles and Gillette Fusion handles are down year on year, maybe the consumer has twigged onto the 'give it away 50% off and reap the rewards of expensive replacement blades' (you've got to fill the car up with petrol once you've bought it) business model?

Azor.jpgSo, what how will our King of Shaves Azor fare in our big 'market launch' shortly? And how will we convince people to shift from 'The Best Your Dad (and Grandad) Can Get' to our new King of Shaves iShave Azor?

How indeed...?

King of Shaves Azor gets another great review!

Azor.jpgCourtesy 'PB'. Original blog posting here
Comment No. 1210412.

---------------------
Afternoon allofya!

I'm not sure why I'm making this post, but here goes.....

for those of us old enough to shave........

I've always bought Gillette razors - simply because they are good, and maybe due to the fact we are brainwashed into using Gillette razors during childhood...

Anyhowz, in a moment of wild abandonment the other day, I bought a 'King of Shaves' razor (twaz called summat exotic like Azor?) - and I kid you not, tiz a mighty fine shave (better than Gillette). The beauty is, its half the price of gillette, as are the blade, and it is a blighty company.

The point being........

Gillette is a mammouth (US) company and 'King of Shaves' is better, half the price and British!

Viva la Revolution!

(...I've got backache this morning and mefinks I might have taken too many tabs!!!!!)

King of Shaves Azor Reviewed by GQ, Gets Seal of Approval!

Azor.jpgI'm delighted that our new King of Shaves Azor has garnered another fantastic review from top UK men's magazine and style bible, GQ. The fact that four of the UK's most influential and heavily read magazines have voted tha Azor a great product means a great deal to me. The four magazines are Shortlist, Esquire, Arena and GQ. We also had an awesome review from the Mail on Sunday's Live magazine, where the Azor got five stars.

Click here to see the review online at the GQ website, or read it below!:

-------------------------------
GQ, August issue 2008

King of Shaves Azor
For some time, "innovation" in shaving has been a synonym for "adding an extra blade". But now King of Shaves is looking to take a cut of the UK razor market with a genuinely innovative wishbone-shaped implement. Looking not unlike a tuning fork, and feeling a little unwieldy at first, the Azor strikes the right note by pivoting to ensure that just the right amount of pressure is applied to your face. The elegant, lo-fi aesthetic meanwhile is about more than simply cutting a dash on your bathroom shelf - the Azor has been "ecoptimised" to chop out unnecessary waste in production and packaging, and thereby minimise any damage to the environment. Whether the Azor will see King of Shaves usurp the crowns of Gillette and Wilkinson remains to be seen, but as the first British-made razor in over 100 years, it certainly deserves a patriotic, if not royal, seal of approval. King of Shaves Azor - an unusual, well written & appreciative posting

Azor.jpgI enjoyed reading this blog posting, see it here

New King of Shaves Azor forces 'Wilkinette' into cunning 50% off handle sales strategy. Ooooh, that's original.

azorbusoutsidebigben.jpgHi, it's been a little while, but I've been a bit busy travelling around the country with the BattleBus (and according to my blog monitor team) I'm delighted views of my blog have been overtaken by people seeing the fantastic blog postings from our amAzor bus tour, so "well done the tour team".

But, I'm going to fight back with this posting.

newazorvhalfpriceoldfusion.jpgOur Azor continues to fly off the shelves, and we can barely keep in stock, and our launch has provoked the expected 'half price on handles' reaction from 'Wilkinette' - I here are some photos taken at Liverpool Street Boots yesterday. Subscribers to money saving forums like Martin Lewis' 'Money Saving Expert' are loving the Azor launch.

But, before you succumb to buying yet ANOTHER half price Gillette Fusion or Wilkinson Sword Quattro handle, ask yourself, "Why?" Some people I've met have a dozen or more handles bought on promotion, but don't buy the replacement blades as they're either way too expensive (Fusion) or simply aren't that good (Quattro stacked blade architecture means they clog like buggery). And even at HALF PRICE, our Azor (at launch price) still represents great value for money.halfpricewilkinsonswordquattro.jpg It's fairly priced £4.99 for a handle & three blades) and when you''ve enjoyed dozens of King of Shaves, buy our Endurium replacement cartridges at an equally reasonable price, £4.99 for 4 or £9.49 for 8. You even get £1 off voucher with initial Azor handle purchase. Can you imagine what would happen to our sales if we half priced.
fusionpower8packfull.jpg
Would Wilkinette follow.....? That's a very interesting strategic question. And I haven't even started on the next phase of our 'Rize of the ecoptimised asymmetrical Competitor yet.'

As I say, "Shave closer, longer, for less" with the Azor. Don't buy the Hummer in a time of £1.25/litre fuel, invest in the hybrid synergy Prius, and save a ton of cash in just a year. More musings on this coming very soon...

New King of Shaves Azor Continues To Please!

Many thanks to Mr. G F for the comment emailed to us on Friday:
----------------
Just to let you know the Azor and gel arrived this week. After using a Gillette razor for about 15 years the whole way of shaving and holding a razor had to change.

I'm glad to say that the original shape and set-up of the blades made it easier and so much quicker to shave with not one worry of "will I nick like usual".

I have used your gel for a while and it looks like you have married the best gel available with, what is technically, a high performance shaving machine!

Thanks again and here's to future innovations for facial hair :-)

If you haven't yet tried our new Azor, you can buy it online here

Many thanks to 'MR' of www.LeedsandLife.Blogspot.com

I was delighted to pick up this blog post just as I was about to go off to bed on Sunday. Many thanks to 'MR' - there is a brief excerpt below, and if you want to read the full blog post, click here

"Now you know me by now. I like to promote things I feel proud of and the King of Shaves AZOR razor is the latest to catch my eye. The English designed and constructed piece of equipment does exactly what it says on the pack and is two fingers to the big corporate Wlikinson Gillette duopoly. KoS has gone from strength to strength and it is superb to see that they are not pathetic sad greedy loosers..." (sic).

More praise for the King of Shaves Azor!

I was delighted to receive these two emails yesterday, the first from Richard Stone of Swanscombe in Kent, the second from Mr J. M. (name withheld at his request) of Welwyn Garden City, Herts.

Enquiry Type: Message for Will King

Hello Will King and the King of Shaves team.

I visited the Battle bus when it attended Bluewater in Kent. I was keen to see the Azor razor as i had been seeing on the website.

Not only did i get a free razor and some alpha shave gel, but also a free shave (i had not shaved for two days to really see how good it was). What rounded the experience of nicely was a nice neck and face massage by a young American lady who was so polite and friendly.

What can i say about the Azor, it's the best razor i have ever used in over 20 years. I can now shave every other day due to the fact it shaves really close and thus last longer but my skin is left nice and smooth. The razor does not clog with hair and it follows the skin contours superbly. It is so good the wife borrowed it to do her legs !!!

All i need to do now is get some KOS moisturiser to finish the shave off properly.

So congratulations to all of the King of Shaves team for the excellent Azor razor. It really is the "King of Shaves" for me and shaving is now a pleasure not a chore.

Regards

Richard Stone

Will,

I have been using your new Azor for about a week now - and to say I am happy with my purchase is an understatement. I am coming from a Gilette Mach 3 something (really I have no idea what it's called because the name is about a paragraph long), which despite it's claim of having a billion blades so you only need to go over an area once, I found myself having to attack my face from all angles, and then having to go back to my now irritated face to finish off the bits that it didn't want to cut the first time round.

I bought the Azor because I like trying new things, and the first time I used it I wasn't too impressed. However, I gave my face a few more days to recover from being "Gilletted" and the difference was night and day.

Now with the Azor I really only need to go over each area once, and it's pretty much perfect every time. The fact that the blades aren't a complete rip-off is just the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

Congratulations and thank-you.

King of Shaves Azor, 2 months in, 2,000,000 azored...

So, where have the past two months gone to? I have never known a period of time fly as fast as from June 23rd, when we launched the Azor at Sainsbury, to today, the 26th August.

An absolute ton of stuff has happened, and for those of you lucky enough to get our in-house news letter, 'The Knowledge' you'll be able to find out more what's been happening at KMI, not just with the Azor, but other exciting news too.

Based on sales out of our twin launch retailers, Boots and Sainsbury, we're tracking growth bang in line with our expectations, and that's before we truly 'get stuck in' with promoting the Azor, our genuinely great razor, that shaves closer, longer for less.

Obviously, I'm not going to be letting 'Wilkinette' know what they're in for, but with them having both spent a combined £5m in trying to thwart our plans via half price promotions and increased advertising, well I think they'll be realsing that simply throwing cash at 'The King' isn't going to make one jot of difference...

So, with over (in our estimations) 2m Azor shaves under our belt in just eight weeks, we're looking forward to ensuring this figure 'multiplies strongly' to the benefit of shavers in the UK, and elsewhere...

...watch this space:-)

Surely this is the world's happiest King of Shaves Azor?

Azor in Mauritus.jpgIf you were an Azor, where would you like to live in the world? Well, one happy Azor is used regularly on the beautiful island of Mauritius! Thanks Ritesh for letting me have this great picture, the Kinexium shave gel must be pretty damn happy too!

King of Games? That'll be King of Shaves then (eat your heart out, Gillette & EA Sports)

Back in November 2005, when house prices were going up 10% each month and we still had Blair in charge, we launched KingofSkeleton.com - a flash based 'viral' style game, as part of our marketing support package for Olympic bobskeleton riders, Kristan Bromley and (silver medalling) Shelley Rudman. This A) allowed people to interact with the KoS brand in a fun, engaging and relevant (performance) way, and B) started to be picked up on by people outside the UK...

In June 2006 we launched KingofDefenders.com (featuring John Terry) to tie in with the 2006 World Cup and in July 2006, KingofPower.com (featuring the Class 1 Powerboat we sponsored that year).

All of these games had great gameplay, and offered great prizes.

And they've had nearly 90,000,000 players, and, amazingly getting even MORE popular! You can find them at the landing page KingofGames.co.uk.

So, it's nice to see Gillette doing their (multi-hundred million dollar) version by teaming up with EA Sports, and giving people the opportunity to play against their friends (or Tiger Woods).

Where King of Shaves leads, others follow... See the link to the Gillette announcement here.

King of Shaves (and Games?) That'll be us, then. And, Gillette, by the way, "music, brings the people, together...bookmark here...

The First 'Dirty Trick' in the 'Battle of the Blades'. At least you can still see our Azor looks cool & different!
