James Sheppard racing in Lucas

James Sheppard racing in Lucas Oils/King of Shaves has won his first race in the US offshore powerboat championships being contested in Florida! This is the first time James has been in a powerboat since the dramatic 140mph crash in Class 1 powerboat King of Shaves in August. We wish James fast and safe racing in the next races - Win!

This post is nothing to

This post is nothing to do with shaving, but more with the power of Bond, James Bond. With Casino Royale due to premier on 16th November, Sony are running an advert for their Vaio in the UK featuring - da da da dah - an Intel Processor. Why am I writing about this? Well, every computer ad I have ever seen that features brand Intel always has the 'dah dah dah dahhh' musical sign off. But not this one! The power of Bond, James Bond. Licensed to Kill (the Intel jingle)!

King of Wins! Offshore powerboat

King of Wins! Offshore powerboat racers Nigel Hook and James Sheppard win the opening two races in the Super Vee US World Championship in Key West. Racing in Lucas Oils/King of Shaves, Hook from San Diego and Sheppard of Surrey England won the first race despite a slow start, and the second almost from the Get Go. ''This guy [Sheppard] is a four-time world champion in Vee bottoms, so he knows how to steer the boat,'' said Hook, the boat's owner and throttleman. ``It was brilliant". Hook has raced in the event for more than 15 years, but never has won a world championship. The final race is on Sunday 12th November. Go Lucas Oils/King of Shaves!

Kings of the World! Despite

Kings of the World! Despite nearly heart-breaking mechanical failure in the final race of the US ProVee Offshore Powerboat World Championships, James Sheppard and Nigel Hook managed to finish the race and win! The race was a nail biter, with one of Lucas Oil/King of Shaves engines giving out and allowing the boat a top speed of only 40 knots. James & Nigel were overtaken by two other boats, only for the leader to suffer double engine failure allowing the King of Shaves sponsored British driver to pilot the boat to Nigel Hook's first ever World Championship victory. Another close shave for the team - but this time it ended in Victory. Well done James!

It's been National Enterprise Week

It's been National Enterprise Week this week, and I was delighted to talk to about 120 students from two Lowestoft schools - Kirkely High (my old high school) and Denes High about business, enterprise and the qualities (i think) that are needed to succeed in today's knowledge & enterprise environment. I was delighted with the questions asked, and the attention paid to my presentations - and hope that a little of what i talked about in terms of S P A C E and RISK, found a home! Thanks to the organising teachers and children from both schools.

It's been a tough 12

It's been a tough 12 months out there, but with a combination of our Central TV campaign featuring John Terry and the design/revamp of our AlphaGel platform now fully rolled out, I'm delighted that we continue to grow our #2 market share position by volume behind Gillette. With the marketing onslaught behind Gillette Fusion still in full flow, Gillette remains the Big Dog with over STL33.9M in sales. King of Shaves continues to grow its second place position to STL6.30M in sales, importantly up 12% or 135K units in its core AlphaGel product line. Nivea for Men's sales volumes declined by 63K units to STL4.56M; Colgate Palmolive's declined to STL2.15M. Other growth brands were L'Oreal MenExpert growing to STL723K and Sara Lee Corp.'s Sanex improved to STL504K. With substantial NPD planned from early 2007 building on our fast growing K2 Skincare line, next year promises to be a closely fought one! Source IRI.
