Risking it in SPACE! Budding entrepreneurs at Dr Challoners Grammar School were offered encouragement and insight by me today. I talked to a group of 40 boys about my own experiences as a businessman, revealing the marketing techniques I had used to transform my loss making operation into a highly successful company with a multi-million pound turnover. I advised them to be prepared to take risks and to enjoy tackling any challenges they encountered, giving them examples of how I had persuaded Will Carling and John Terry to endorse my products. According to the audience, my personal motto - ‘Enthuse, Exceed, Enjoy!’ was infectious so it was fortunate that I had time to answer questions at the end of the session and to record a podcast for those unlucky enough to have missed the event. Many thanks to Judith Ryde for organising the visit, and best of luck to the young man from Dr. Challoners who is up on 'Dragons Den' later this year!

In a recent press conference AG Lafley, P&G Chairman said (of the Gillette acquisition) "All we did was answer the phone. We were not out there looking." Given that James Kilts, then Chairman of Gillette made $164,000,000 out of making the call, that must rank as one of all time 'best connected' business telephone calls!

When we launched the ecommerced version of shave.com back in december 1999, the phrase 'Blog' was not widely used. But our 'In the Know' section, regularly updated by me is now moving with the times, and from today is 'The King's Blog' - same (sometimes controversial) content, but THE place to visit to keep up with what's happening at King of Shaves!

K2 Skinvestment officially launched by John Terry! At an event attended by nearly 200 guests including journalists, industry commentators and competition winners, John Terry kicked off the launch of our K2 Skinvestment Series range (exclusive to Boots) this evening at 'Paper' - stylishy themed in white & lime green (by team KMI design) London nightspot. The event also attraced TV and Restaurant celebrities including Gary Rhodes - also a fan of King of Shaves. The press who have helped us over the years also turned out in force (and didn't pose JT too many awkward questions...!!) and around 10 of the team from KMI were also present. Well done all, it was a great event!

John Terry, King of Europe - for today at least!!! With his selfless header to Didier Drogba in the last minutes of the Champions League game against Barcelona, Terry 'shaved' the game putting Chelsea top and almost certainly guaranteeing their place in the knockout rounds. I'm sure football fans, whichever team they support applaud the win!
